Description
| The B key exchange box is a product designed to enable the sequential release of keys (maximum of six) by insertion of an initial key(s). The requirement for this type of product usually arises due to there being more keys required than the initial isolation system supplies. The unit will generally be the link between the isolation locks and the access products. The product is supplied suitable for surface or panel mounting. |
Operation
| 1 in to release 3 example. The isolation key is free and the three secondary keys are trapped. Insertion of the isolation key enables the sequential removal of the secondary keys. Once the first secondary key has been removed, the isolation key is trapped. All secondary keys must be re-inserted to enable removal of the isolation key. |
Typical System
The ‘B’ is designed to operate as part of an integrated safety system. A typical example is shown below.

System Description
The electrical supply to the machine is switched on and the access doors to the hazardous area are locked closed. The initial key is trapped in the KS20 Lock.
To enter the area, the key in the KS20 is released, locking the switch off. This key is then inserted into the ‘B Key Exchange Box’ to release a further three keys which are used to open the ‘AI’ access locks on the doors. Whilst these keys are out of the ‘B box’ the initial power supply cannot be switched on.
