Description
| The W key selector box is a product designed to enable the controlled release of keys by the positioning of a selector knob. The W box is suitable for releasing any number of keys, in differing combinations, with a maximum of six selector knob positions. The requirement for this type of product usually arises due to there being various system setups i.e. in the control of switchgear. The Z box is supplied in an enclosure suitable for surface mounting. |
Operation
| The selector knob is rotated to the desired condition, which allows the removal of the keys according to the truth table. See example truth table and system diagram. |
Typical System
The ‘W’ is designed to operate as part of an integrated safety system. A typical example is shown below.

System Description
The feeders supply their own section of busbar with the bus section switches open, or any one feeder to the whole busbar if bus section switches are closed but ensuring that no two feeders can be connected in parallel. Key ‘S1’ will operate feeder 1, Key ‘S2’ will operate feeder 2, Key ‘S3’ will operate feeder 3, Key ‘C1’ will operate Buscoupler 1 and Key’ C2’ will operate Bus-coupler 2.
When the key is inserted, the corresponding switch is closed. The system shown is in condition 1 and has the three feeder switches closed and the busbar switches open. To change the system condition to condition 2 the S1 key is returned to the selector box and the selector knob moved to condition 2. In this position, the C1 key can be removed and the C1 Busbar switch closed.
